DiddyCon is the byproduct of KingCon a Comic, TV, Film and Gaming Convention which has been held for the last couple of years in Durham.

10DiddyCon and KingCon are ran by Dark Matter Events, sister company to Dark Matter Cafe which is also based in Durham. Dark Matter Cafe if you have never been before, has been based on Crossgate in Durham since 2013, and is a Comic and Gaming Cafe, you should visit if you haven’t already, we have cake.

Both DiddyCon and KingCon are events which run slightly differently to other conventions, we work 1towards investing most of our efforts in experiences, education, and engaging interactive activities. So things like, game development and 3D printing and design with Darlington College, educational talks, big screen gaming competitions, TCG Gaming and Tournaments, Retro Games Consoles to play amongst some great things to meet such as celebrity cars, TV and Film Celebrities, Comic Book Designers, Game Developers, constructed sets and props, and appropriate merchandise and collectables, even down to the sounds you hear at our events from live musicians and themed music. We are strongly on the belief that our guests should take away more with them, such as a new piece of knowledge or just a great time, as well as great merchandise and collectables. We base most of our business of the 3 core principles, Discover, Meet, Create.

DiddyCon is a smaller “pre-con” of KingCon, designed to engage a slightly younger and more localised audience around the Chester le Street Area, although quite obviously, anyone can come! DiddyCon is built to a strict brief supplied by Chester le Street Area Action Partnership and the Young Persons Task Group, to produce this event. Also DiddyCon is designed to give enough of a flavour of larger conventions, but at a more affordable rate, as well as promote KingCon the larger event which will be held in a secret location in October of this year.7

We hold this 11DiddyCon at Park View Community Centre and Park View School, this year on the 7th May, from 10am to 4pm. Cost is £3 for any persons over the age of 7, and free for under 7s, there’s also a bulk ticket available where 4 full price tickets can be purchased for the discounted price of £10, you can attain these tickets from Dark Matter Cafe in Durham, Park View Community Centre, or online at www.diddycon.co.uk however purchasing online there is a processing and booking fee.

This year at DiddyCon you are likely to find, Richard the Dinosaur, our pet dinosaur, 2 TBC Celebrity Vehicles, Game Development and Design, 3D Printing and Design, Big Screen Gaming of Pokken, TCG, 5RPG and Table Top Games, Retro Gaming Machines, over 20 traders, plus more!
